The Gala Dark Ann apple tree on the M26 rootstock belongs to the highest category of apple trees, because of its dark red colour, interesting fruit and high quality of apples. This combination is ideal for intensive orchards and smaller gardens where the quality and aesthetics of the harvest are a priority.
Gala Dark Ann is a medium to large apple tree with a spherical, conical shape. The skin has a yellow-green base which is completely covered by a dark to burgundy colour. The surface is smooth, glossy and very resistant to mechanical restriction.
The flesh is firm, creamy yellow, juicy and sweet. The flavour is typically sweet, harmonious and intensely aromatic, making Gala Dark Ann ideal for direct consumption and processing.
The M26 rootstock ensures medium vigorous tree growth, while the apple tree retains a compact shape suitable for intensive cultivation. Trees on M26 rootstock quickly come into fruiting and produce a regular and high yield. This combination is ideal for gardeners and commercial growers alike.
Hardiness and cultivation
The Gala Dark Ann apple tree is frost resistant, but requires careful protection from diseases such as scab and powdery mildew... It does best in sunny areas with well-drained soil.
Fruits ripen in late September to early October. Gala Dark Ann apples are excellent for storage - under the right conditions they retain their freshness, flavour and texture until February, making them ideal for sale and long-term use.
Gala Dark Ann apples are ideal for direct consumption, making jams, juices, desserts and fruit salads. Thanks to their dark red appearance and excellent taste, they are in great demand in markets and among sweet apple lovers.
