'Baron' is a very promising early blue table grape variety that is gaining popularity due to its attractive appearance, excellent flavour, fruit size and high disease and frost resistance. It is an ideal choice for those looking for a high-yielding, undemanding and at the same time aesthetically pleasing vine with a high market value.
The variety was created by crossing Talizman x Velika and carries the best of both parents - strong growth, large clusters and excellent berry quality. The flowers are bisexual and self-pollinating, with no pea formation, which guarantees a regular and balanced harvest.
The growing season lasts 115-125 days, with the grapes ripening in the second half of August. The shoots grow vigorously, which allows good lethorastic ripening and abundant fruit set.
The clusters are large to very large, weigh between 800 and 1600 g, are conical in shape and moderately dense. Even when fully ripe, the bunches can remain on the bushes for a long time without losing quality and flavour, which is appreciated by every grower.
The berries are impressively large (15-20 g), oval in shape and measure 36 × 30 mm. The colour is dark blue, the skin is soft but firm - they do not burst even in rainy weather and are not subject to rot. The fruits are even in size, which gives the bunches an excellent market appearance.
The flesh is fleshy, juicy, with excellent sugar accumulation, which is reflected in a pleasant and harmonious flavour. Sugar content is between 19-21 °NM, which is ideal for table grapes.
The 'Baron' variety is characterised by its high yield, while maintaining its quality even under a heavy load of grapes. Thanks to its high resistance to fungal diseases and frost, it is also suitable for less favourable growing conditions, without the need for intensive chemical protection.
