The Jawel raspberry produces medium-sized, black fruits with a distinctly sweet flavour and aromatic aroma. They are suitable for direct consumption, but thanks to their taste and consistency they are also excellent for processing into jams, syrups, preserves or freezing

This variety is characterised by a very long fruiting period - from June to October. The fruit ripens on biennial shoots, which allows a gradual and even harvest throughout the summer and autumn.

The Jawel raspberry is resistant to common diseases, which reduces the need for protective measures when growing it. It grows to a height of about 2 metres, but the shoots tend to bend, so it is advisable to provide support, for example in the form of wire or stake lines.

For optimum growth, a warm, sunny site with fertile, well-drained soil without excessive water stagnation is ideal. The soil should have a slightly acidic to neutral pH (approximately 6,5) and it is important that it is not too dry, as raspberries need sufficient moisture. It is advisable to choose a quiet and sheltered location that is less exposed to strong winds and frosts, especially in spring when the buds are forming.

The Jawel variety is a summer raspberry, which means that it flowers and fruits on biennial shoots. It is recommended to remove the old biennial shoots to the ground after harvesting to make room for the growth of young shoots that will bear fruit the following year. The new shoots should be fixed to the supports to ensure their healthy development.

Raspberries are generally not highly nutritious, but regular fertilisation promotes healthy growth and a bountiful harvest. It is recommended to apply mineral fertilisers in 2 to 3 doses during the growing season, with the last fertilisation taking place at the latest in June/July. Multi-component fertilisers designed for raspberries or organic alternatives should be used to promote plant vigour. In the autumn, it is advisable to enrich the soil with organic matter, for example with a thin layer of compost, which will give the soil the humus and nutrients it needs for a good overwintering period.

The Jawel raspberry is a great choice for gardeners looking for a variety with a long fruiting period, excellent flavour and easy care.
